Animal Cancer Trust Chairman elected President of the European Society of Veterinary Oncology

 

Animal Cancer Trust Chairman Malcolm Brearley has been elected as President of the European Society of Veterinary Oncology, the charity is pleased to announce. 

 

Mr Brearley, a Consultant Veterinary Oncologist, was nominated at the Society’s AGM on 29th February 2008 and will hold this post for the next four years.  During this time he aims to develop the Society and strengthen its role in Europe and worldwide.

 

With nearly 20 years experience of treating animals with cancer, Mr Brearley became the first RCVS Recognised Specialist in Veterinary Oncology in 1994 and a European Specialist in Small Animal Oncology in 2005.  He is a founding member of the charity, the Animal Cancer Trust, which is committed to the fight against cancer through funding research and better treatment facilities for the benefit of animals.

 

Mr Brearley says: “I’ve always enjoyed taking an active role in the European Society of Veterinary Oncology, so I’m delighted to have now been voted President.  The Society brings together a large number of veterinarians interested in oncology and it is a fantastic opportunity to be a part of shaping its direction in the future.”
