Organise a fundraising event

There are many ways that you can help us raise funds by organising your own event.
These might include a:

The Animal Cancer Trust will support and help you in whatever way they can e.g. provide literature, logo etc.  We would, however, be unable to undertake the day to day event planning since we have very limited resources! Organisers need to let us know what type of event they plan, the date of the event and what, if any, support they might like.

Our online fundraising service providers, Justgiving, will be able to take online donations by credit or debit card through a Personal Fundraising Page that can be created for individual events.  Justgiving will also offer all donors who are UK taxpayers the option of making donations in a manner that makes them eligible for Gift Aid reclaims.

Take the Lead sponsored dog walks -

3rd/4th October 2009

Nationwide sponsored dog walks - 'Take the Lead' and step out for the Trust

We are in the final stages of planning the walks to be held over the weekend of 3rd and 4th October.  Walks are planned for the New Forest, East Sussex, Yorkshire, Suffolk and Cheshire. The venues together with the organisers and contact information have been provided on the News & Events section.  We are delighted that Royal Canin will once again be supporting the event and will be giving away dog leads to everyone raising more than £5.

If you would like to raise sponsorship online you can do so by clicking on the button below.  You can then given your friends and supporters the link to your fundraising page.

Alternatively you can print off a sponsorship form here.

Reports from the walks held in 2008

New Forest:  Rufus Stone, Nr Brook   Sunday 5th October

'Naomi and her team would like to thank everyone who braved the weather and turned out in force for the Rufus Stone walk, I think the motto for the day was that 'cancer doesn't stop when it rains, and so neither shall we!!'   All the walkers kept a cheery outlook and enjoyed the walk, despite the weather, and after about 30 minutes the rain stopped and the weather brightened up (not wanting to be left out, Naomi is determined that Ben  - see Friends' Remembered- should be given full credit for this!!)    After the walk, some of the walkers enjoyed a lovely meal at the Sir Walter Tyrrel pub, and we would like to thank the staff there for their supportive and friendly attitude to our dogs.   So far, the amount raised is £1558.40, with more on it's way.  Special thanks must be given to Rob Meadham who sacrificed Birthday presents in lieu of sponsorship for the walk and raised £345.00 - we can see why he's so popular!!    We were very lucky to have a professional photographer who gave up his time to join our walk - he got some lovely pictures, despite the conditions!  Some pictures of this walk can be seen on this website, click here, but to see more, please go to www.pete-rawlinson.co.uk, or email pete-rawlinson@hotmail.co.uk
Thank-you and Well Done to everyone who braved the weather and joined us.'

The winners of the prize for the most money raised are Rob and Sarah Meadham so perhaps it was worth sacrificing those birthday presents after all!!

Brighton:  Stanmer Park, Nr Brighton BN1 9SE  Saturday 4th October

Gales were order of the day here!  Fortunately the rain held off until the latter part of the morning but I understand a good part of the time was spent trying to tether to gazebo!!  This is a great place to walk - a beautiful park with open spaces and woodland.  The tea room was very popular following the walk!  Thanks are again due to Cathy Sutherland and her team for organising such an enjoyable day.

To date the amount raised is over £900 with more on its way!  The winner of the prize for the most money raised is Tina Barker from Henfield.  Well done everyone.

Cheshire:  Delamere Forest Park, Linmere, Northwich, Cheshire CW8 2JD   Saturday 4th October

This was definitely a windy day with everyone holding onto their hats!  The forecast was appalling but the wind kept the rain at bay for most of the day.  Brenda Baskerville and Karen Ingrams had organised a great day in a great location and the walkers all had smiles on their faces!

The amount banked to date is £610 with another £650 or so on its way - what a great effort!  The winner of the prize for the most money raised is Vicki James from Frodsham - thank you and well done!

Nottinghamshire:  Clumber Park, Worksop, Notts S80 3AZ  Sunday 5th October

Everything conspired against this walk.  The weather was awful and the organiser was in bed with severe flu!  However, thanks to Carol for stepping into the breach and holding the fort for the day.  National Trust were most helpful and Clumber Park is absolutely breathtaking.

Sadly very few walkers braved the elements (can't say I blame them) so the fundraising was much less than anticipated.  Thank you everyone who helped raised valuable funds.  The winner of the prize for the most money raised is Alyson Baker from Worksop.

Surrey:  Kenley Common, Nr Caterham, Surrey  Sunday 5th October

Weather again played havoc with the walk and greatly reduced the anticipated numbers.  However despite everything £1,324 has been raised - so a big thank you to everyone for supporting the walk.  Thank you to Charmaine Ennis-Whelan and Brigitte Taylor or all the hard work and ensuring that the day ran well.

Yorkshire:  Oakwell Hall Country Park, Birstall, Leeds WF17 9LG

Fortunately the worst of the weather held off during the morning although it again affected the turnout.  Thank you to the hardy souls that took park and a big thank you to Lisa Davies and Lucy Griffin from the Abbey Veterinary Hospital in Morley for organising the walk.

Glamorgan:  Dinas Powys   Sunday 5th October

This was a small walk organised by Chris and Angela Reardon for their friends and dogs.  They had a lovely walk in remembrance of Angela's dear little Cocker Spaniel, Harvey, who very sadly died from cancer when only 2 years.  What a fitting tribute to Harvey.

The small band of owners raised just under £340 with more money that has been donated online - well done!
