A message from your Chief Executive

 

It is hard to believe that we are coming to the end of summer and entering autumn.  We are enjoying a wonderful Indian summer at the moment and I am just hoping that the weather will hold until next weekend when we hold our dog walks.

Once again we are indebted to Royal Canin for their support of the walks and for providing the prizes and dog leads. 

I do hope that some of you are able to join one of the walks and help raise valuable funds for our trust.  Full details of the locations and organisers of the walks being held this weekend (3rd and 4th October) are given on the News & Events page. 

The Animal Cancer Trust received a cheque for £6,000 from the Canine Supporters Charity on 12th September.  This was presented on the Royal Canin stand at the Richmond Championship Show held near Guildford.  I thoroughly enjoyed my day at the show and continue to learn so much about the wonderful variety of dog breeds that are currently in the UK.

We have now awarded the annual travel grants to the veterinary universities that have resident oncologists which will hopefully encourage the next generation of specialists.  The residents will report back following the international meetings and these will be published on our website.

Keep watching out for the latest news on our website.  Our AGM with the board of trustees is being held tomorrow when we will be planning the year ahead and discussing the expansion of the website.  It is planned to have a great deal more information available for pet owners within the next three months.

If you have any ideas to help fundraise please do get in touch - we welcome all your ideas!  Thank you to all our wonderful supporters who continue to raise money in a variety of ways which include running marathons, half marathons, cake stalls, dog display teams, collection boxes and a host of other methods.
